I'm a fan of the optional smart alerts that can tell the difference between a bark, a meow, or a person, and the motion tracking is handy when you're out. When I was using it day-to-day, it connected to the live feed fast, and the two-way talk actually sounded natural. That's a huge plus when you're trying to calm down a nervous dog or tell a cat to get off the counter.

Okay, but before you hit 'buy,' let's be real about the limitations. Without paying for a Petcube subscription, you get the live view and basic motion alerts. That's it. If you want cloud recording, those smart bark/meow alerts, or a longer video history, you have to sign up for a paid plan. There's no way to record locally to a microSD card, and it won't connect to faster 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks. And for privacy? There's a 'privacy mode' in the app, but no physical lens cover that slides shut. If you're dead set on tossing treats, you'll want something like the Furbo 360.
